The Purpose
I've been playing guitar since 1980 and have read many guitar books. I love to pull a guitar book off the shelf and see what I can learn. There are lots of great books on the market but I always wanted something different.
I want a book I can open to a random page and just start playing without needing to read an explanation or memorize TAB.
I want to learn how to play chord progressions on the fly. If my friend wants to jam on a I iii vi IV progression in the key of G, then I want to learn how to play that without needing to sit down and figure it all out.
I want to learn to create chord progressions all over the fretboard so I can add variety to my playing.
I want to learn many ways to play the same chord progression. If my friend asks how many ways can I play a I iii vi IV progression in the Key of C, then I want to say I can play it a dozen different ways.
I want to build a foundation of using triads to build chord progressions. I want to understand the basic triad shapes and the different ways they connect to form chord progressions. I want to understand the mechanics of how chord progressions are put together.
I wrote this book to teach all of the things I really wanted to learn from other books.
All of the examples and chord progressions are shown using chord diagrams. This makes them easy to play right away.
The focus of this book is on playing. It includes lessons and music theory and then it shows patterns so we can play the theory without needing to think too hard.
This is a simple book with many examples. Use it to build your own foundation of triads and building chord progressions on the fly. Then expand on this foundation with all of your other studies.
ACE the Fretboard has more than 400 pages.
